PPA Hosting Sebaste: Reclaiming Masculine Identity
Padre Pio Academy is hosting the founders of Sebaste, a young men’s mentoring program that is designed to help men and boys reclaim a masculine identity rooted in adventure, hardship and fraternity.
The name, Sebaste, comes from the story of the 40 martyrs of Sebaste (an ancient village in modern-day Turkey). These men were elite Roman soldiers of the “Thundering” 12th (XII). They were each in the prime of their youth–strong, beautiful, and full of manly courage.
Late in the third century, they all turned from their pagan ways to a life devoted to Christ and His Church. For refusing to offer sacrifice to the false gods of Rome, they were brutally, but heroically, martyred. Taking inspiration from these men, Sebaste is devoted to encouraging the deepest passions of men’s hearts: adventure, challenge, and heroism.
Now you can come and hear the testimony of Ultra Runner Jonathan Kuplack as he approaches the last leg of his epic running pilgrimage across America (3500 miles in 100 days)! He will speak about his experiences from the road and how they connect to the mission he is on to free young men from today’s attacks on masculinity.
